Native to South America, this shrub or small tree, very branched and with a rapid growth, adorns Mediterranean gardens in a superb way in summer and not only provided that some precautions of exposure are respected. The erect stems, covered with beautiful compound and deciduous leaves, from June to late October are crowned by large inflorescences whose flowers, with five petals of a delicate yellow, have in the center 10 long and showy red stamens that have made it famous as "cat-whiskered plant".
