Small evergreen perennial shrub with a typical prostrate, cushion-like habit. Native to the Mediterranean basin, it can reach 50 cm height and expand up to 80 cm width. The stems, lignified at the base of the plant and herbaceous at the top, are thin, branched, first erect and then prostrate. Leaves, small and finely divided, are close together and of a silvery-grey color, intensely perfumed and fluffy to the touch. In late spring, the small hermaphrodite flowers appear gathered in numerous yellow spherical flower heads that almost completely cover the surface of the plant and contrast well with the color of the foliage.
