Pretty little suffruticose, perennial and evergreen plant, slow growing and cushion-like habit, thick and regular, native to countries of the western Mediterranean basin: at the top of its growth it can grow up to 30 cm tall and a little larger. Well branched and lignified already from the base, it has numerous rigid and erect stems, ascending from the clear, silvery bark: leaves, small, lanceolate with acute apex and slightly revolute smooth margin, tomentose, gray-green on the upper page and whitish on the lower one, are arranged oppositely and are intensely scented if touched or wrinkled: this scent, not always pleasing to men, makes the plant attractive to cats, so much so that it deserves the common name of "Cat grass". In summer, most of the branches rise in abundant slender flower spikes, made up of very small, deep pink, almost purple flowers, particularly appreciated by bees and insects in general.
