Spectacular shrub, evergreen perennial, with an attractive compact and round shape. Native to Japan, it can grow 3.5 m tall and large very fast. Very popular bush, it has woody stems with dark brown bark, erect and strongly branched, densely covered by foliage. The leaves, opposite and leathery, are glossy dark green, ovate with serrated edges. From late winter and in spring it is possible to observe the generous flowering of this plant: the flowers, slightly fragrant, small, waxy and tubular, are white-pink and appear collected in numerous clusters, facing downwards at the apex of the branches. They are followed in autumn by round, glossy red berries that are truly ornamental.
