Very rustic grass, perennial and semi-deciduous, easy to grow, with a bushy, compact and rounded habit, native to East Asia: in full development it can exceed 80 cm in height and reach an even greater width. Equipped with strong and deep fasciculated roots that guarantee a firm anchorage to the ground, it looks like a thick tuft of very light leaves, erect at the bottom and softly arched at the top: these are thin, flat, very narrow, with smooth edges and acute apex, emerald green until autumn when they then turn to a warm pale yellow. Between late summer and autumn, numerous and showy pluminous and silky inflorescences appear on the tuft and sway even under the slightest breath of wind, supported by slender greenish stems: these are composed of very small cream-white flowers from which they develop small blackish oblong seeds.
