Very elegant shrub, perennial and evergreen, with slow growth, compact habit and South American origin: after several years of cultivation it can rise over 1 m in height and equally in width. Equipped with robust fleshy roots that allow it a solid anchorage to the ground, it looks like a thick tuft of leaves emerging from the ground: these are thin, supported by long petioles and variously oriented so as to give the plant a rather globular shape: multi-lobed lanceolate , glabrous with smooth margins and acute apex, also have showy and decorative ribs and are dark green in color. Over the years the plant tends to rise and the tuft of leaves to position itself on top of several thick and fleshy stems, maintaining a roundish appearance. in summer, but only sometimes and only when the plant has reached its maturity and is well cultivated, among the dense foliage some greenish-white inflorescences form with the typical "spadix and spathe" structure.
