Easy, rustic and truly decorative grass, perennial and semi-deciduous, with rapid growth and bushy, dense and globular habit, native to northeastern Africa: at its maximum development, it can reach 50 cm in height and a little more in width. Equipped with a rich and robust root system, it looks like a tuft of numerous slender stems, formed by the leaves sheathed together. These are thin, narrow, ribbon-like with regular margins and acute apex, glabrous and light green, with an initial erect course but then at the top softly folded outwards, thus giving the plant the shape of a rounded, compact and light cushion. In summer and until the beginning of autumn, supported by slender stems, showy spiked candid white inflorescences, silky and feathery, quite short and squat, sway on the dense foliage, even moved by the slightest zephyr. They are long persistent. If fertilized, these give rise to minute and oblong seeds responsible for an easy spontaneous self-dissemination in nature.
