Elegant and vigorous small plant, perennial and evergreen, with fast growth and bushy, thick and regular posture, native to Mexico: at the maximum of its development it can reach 90 cm in height while its width can be even greater, since it tends, being a robust rhizomatous, to expand very horizontally. It is formed by numerous thin, slender stems, green in the juvenile phase, which rise from the ground in an erect, vertical way and then upwards, weighing down and sometimes branching. These tend to bend softly outwards, soon creating a large bush dense and rounded: the leaves, narrow, lanceolate and opposite, with smooth or slightly lobed margins and acute, glabrous apex, are dark green with marked veins. From late spring to late autumn, from the leaf axils of the terminal part of the branches, sparse pedunculated inflorescences emerge in profusion composed of large and showy tubular blue flowers, which, although they last only one day, are abundant: if fertilized, they produce fruits containing several small dark seeds that ensure easy dissemination of the plant.
