Singular shrub, sometimes a small tree, perennial and evergreen, with slow growth and compact and regular posture, original of the Australian continent: At its maximum development, it can reach up to 5 m in height and as many in width. Woody and branched from the base, it has numerous rigid and erect stems, which dividing repeatedly and orienting themselves in every direction make the plant take on a thick and rather rounded appearance. The leaves, numerous and small, alternate, of ovate shape with smooth margins and obtuse apex, are slightly leathery and grey-green in color. Between the end of winter and spring, the flowers appear collected in the apical part of the branches; these are small and simple, white, and composed of only 5 petals and with showy stamens crowning the large central stigma. They are followed by abundant woody fruits, containing minute seeds, which remain on the bush for a long time.
