Vigorous evergreen perennial plant, with a typical expansive and pruning habit. Native to Central America, it can grow quickly and cover large surfaces in a short time. Without the classic tools of any climbing plant (tendrils, adventitious roots, suckers or twining stems) it produces thick and woody stems which, branching frequently and rooting often at their nodes, can run for many meters, climbing over and covering everything they encounter in their way. The large leaves, alternating and leathery, are elliptical and pedunculated, in a bright green color. The flowers, which appear between spring and autumn on the branches of the same year, are truly spectacular: yellow and slightly perfumed, they have the shape of a cup about 20 cm wide and the terminal parts of the petals are retroflexed and gorgeous, with purple streaks inside.
