Interesting evergreen perennial plant with a typical shrubby and expansive habit, very common in the Mediterranean scrub. Native to the Mediterranean basin, it can grow over time up to a maximum height of 3 meters. The stems, thin and flexible, are very branched and have a dark green or brown bark. They can also develop as new shoots from the plant's lignified base. The leaves, small, alternate, very sparse and spaced in the caudex, are linear or lanceolate, dark green and soon deciduous. In late spring you can witness the extraordinary flowering of this plant: the flowers, delicately scented and of a beautiful bright yellow color, are gathered in sparse inflorescences at the apex of the branches of the year and are followed by the fruit: a sickle-shaped and compressed legume which, when ripe, twists and expels its numerous seeds at distance.
