Small evergreen bulbous with a typical thick and bushy habit. Native to southern Africa, it develops quickly and can grow 50 cm tall maximum and 30 cm large. From the underground bulb develops a dense tuft of long, thin and ribbon-like, grey-green leaves. From the beginning of summer and until late autumn, numerous flower stems rise between the leaves, leading, at the apex, to groups of light pink-purple starry flowers. Each element of the plant, if touched and rubbed, emits a characteristic smell of garlic.
